On my arrival in Montana I purchased myself the “Montana Singletrack” the mountain bikers guide to Montana, that features 50 of Montana’s greatest rides. It is a fantastic book, and offers great info and maps of the trails. To make things easier for my researches, I also got myself the local biking guide of Bozeman & Big Sky’s Essential Mountain Bike Rides. These Guides are like a dream come true, and are far superior than any other guides I have used. I had not heard of Beartooth Publishing until a few weeks ago, but as of now I will definitely be looking for their guide books and maps.
Beartooth Publishing has a new fan!!
From their site :
Beartooth Publishing publishes topographic trail maps and guidebooks designed for outdoors addicts.
We work hard to create the most beautiful and accurate maps for your outdoor pursuits. All of our maps are printed on waterproof, tear resistant plastic. They show national forest roads, trails, and recreation sites such as trailheads, campgrounds, picnic areas, and fishing access sites.
We believe art is a major component of cartography, and as such we strive to make gorgeous maps. Our maps have won awards in the American Congress on Surveying and Mapping’s annual map design competition, the mapping industry’s most prestigious contest. This competition includes maps from all over the United States and Canada. We think a map should first be accurate, but also beautiful enough to inspire the reader to fantasize about their upcoming adventures.
This is Montana’s mountain biking guidebook, created and published by Montana mountain bikers.
It describes the state’s very best mountain bike rides, from the borders of the premier biking towns to the most remote mountain ranges, from high alpine ridges to low desert canyons. Many of these rides are the established favorites of local bikers, while others are phenomenal rides which few locals know. Whether you are looking for a quick evening spin or an all day backcountry adventure, this book is all about Montana’s finest singletrack.
This is a FULL COLOR book with trail descriptions, elevation profiles, photographs, and shaded relief topo maps (the same quality as our regular maps) for 50 rides. 27 rides are located around Big Sky, Bozeman, Helena, Missoula, and Whitefish. The remaining 23 rides are scattered across the state from Billings to Eureka.
